Although I’ve really wanted to get started and make substantial progress by now, this has been a slow-going process of growth.
For months, I’ve been talking about doing this… inching forward, gathering courage, thinking I was making steady progress — until I hit a wall. Revisiting some painful and traumatic chapters brought on my first real bout of writer’s block. And if I’m honest, I was also procrastinating waiting for everything to feel perfect.
But here’s what life has taught me: perfection isn’t the goal. Progress is.
I started slowly rolling this out with the new year, around January 1st, and I am now trying to gain momentum. We’ll go places together, sharing the wonder of using travel to triumph over trauma — turning each journey into something meaningful and healing. Whether it’s exploring quiet backroads, chasing sunsets along unfamiliar coasts, or discovering hidden corners of a city I thought I knew, every adventure has become a reminder that life’s right turns often lead to the most beautiful destinations.
So this is a work in progress. And that’s okay.
My hope is that these stories will be helpful to some and inspiring to many. This journey is still unfolding, and I’m excited to see where it leads. I’m giving myself permission to tweak, turn, and grow along the way. Each story, each memory, is a step forward — not just for me, but for anyone who finds themselves hesitant to take their own leaps.
This is an introduction to what was… what happened… what life looks like now… and what I hope it can become.
This is me.
This is my story.
How I evolved from Rita… to Running Rita… to Road Running Rita… to Right Turn Rita… and finally, Right Turns with RoadRunning Rita.
And honestly, this very page is proof of that evolution. I started with one clear vision, and it has slowly metamorphosed into something entirely different. I’ve had to learn to go with the flow, to trust what unfolds, and to remember that forward is forward — no matter how slow. Progress is still progress.
What matters most is getting the stories out, sharing the experiences, and maybe — just maybe — offering a little hope and optimism to someone else navigating the unexpected right turns in their own life.
